Because they don’t have metal wires or brackets, Invisalign® aligners are much easier to keep clean than traditional braces. They’re also removable for maximum convenience.
Though it may be simple, it’s very important that you care for your aligners and monitor them regularly to prevent any issues from developing. Explore our guide to maintaining your aligners for a beautiful new smile.
One of the primary benefits of Invisalign is that your aligners are removable, so you can take them out while you’re eating meals. This keeps crumbs and other debris from getting trapped in your aligners and leading to infection. Thanks to the innovative Invisalign process, you can forget about the hassle of trying to clean food out of metal braces.
To ensure successful results, you need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. This gives you the flexibility to easily enjoy your meals every day without impacting your treatment. Unlike traditional braces, you won’t have to avoid certain foods or drinks with Invisalign — simply remove your aligners, eat and drink whatever you want, then brush your teeth before putting them back in.
Cleaning Your Aligners
Invisalign aligners can be kept clean with dailly gentle brushing and rinsing. We recommend that you also use the Invisalign cleaning system, which involves placing your aligners in a case filled with warm water and adding custom cleaning crystals.
Gently shake the container for 20 seconds to release the crystals and let your aligners soak for 15 minutes, then gently shake for 20 seconds again. Rinse your aligners with warm water to complete the process.
For optimal results, you should remove and clean your aligners every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to bed. Also make sure that you don’t eat or drink without removing your aligners, and always brush your teeth before putting them back in.
